"Luxury" and "Grand" Are Key Buzzwords For 2022 Travel

“Luxury” and “Grand" are the buzzwords for travel bookings in 2022.
According to Frank Marini, President & CEO of Railbookers and Amtrak Vacations, the current mindset for consumers centers upon wanting to make up for lost time by treating themselves to travel that is more luxurious and grander than pre-COVID.
This philosophy translates to longer trips, more luxurious hotels or upgraded accommodations, nicer vacation packages, and even combining two bucket list trips into one to check multiple things off their bucket list. Travelers have even said, “their bucket list is now their to do list!” For those wanting to see the country’s national parks, they are even combining visits to multiple national parks as well.
These are the itineraries that Railbookers and Amtrak Vacations are seeing growing significantly in popularity:
RAILBOOKERS:
- Venice Simplon Orient Express from Venice combined with the Bernina Express and Glacier Express – 10 days from $7,349
- Grand European Tour – 12 days from $3,399
- Single Country Trips including a Grand Tour Switzerland from $5,049 pp and the Trans-Canada and Rockies Adventure with Rocky Mountaineer from $6,199.
AMTRAK VACATIONS:
- Grand National Parks with Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, and Yosemite – 13 days from $3,999
- Northern Rail Experience – 9 days from $2,099 – appealing to those who want to experience overnights onboard the train and see the US by rail
Of particular note: Amtrak Vacations' average booking increased 57% for 2022 vs. 2021 (higher value, longer trips, more upgraded selections). For Railbookers, it is +71% higher for the same reasons.
I’m happy to set up an interview with Frank if you would like to talk about this topic in greater detail.
Thanks for your time.
